I've just got myself some of these to replace my amp and speakers - they werent really suitable for my very small room, so this is a much more room friendly solution.
The satelite speakers are very small, but quite heavy, and there is a subwoofer with it - dont know what the driver size is, but probably 6 inch looking at it.
They cost £100 - about $150, now I havent heard other computer speakers to compare it with, but i am pretty surprised how nice they sound considering. I have the bass set on the low setting - anything more is a bit OTT for anything other than games or DVD's in such a small room.
The treble and mids are detailed and smooth, and the bass is well integrated considering its a compromise from the start, and is fast and relatively punchy. Vocals sound excellent, and it gives a convincing soundstage no matter how the speakers are placed - the further apart they are the bigger, but even if you have them either side of the monitor (like I have now) they give a nice miniature soundstage.
They even look quite nice.
For the price they cost - about $150 or so... i think they are very good value for money. Not even completely run in yet, but for those of you who like me have very limited space, this is a good solution. It makes music sound bouncy, detailed, airy and fun. OK they are not as good as my Rotel amp and Rega Ela's in a bigger room, but hey, that costs 10x as much in terms of MSRP value, and it *needs* a bigger room to sound any good at all.
Very, very impressed with these
