Hello everyone,

Just recieved my Sony HD1, and have had a good play around, and am very happy with it. Sonicstage is a doddle, and the player looks and sounds wonderful.

I have just bought a Sony remote RM-MC40ELK , which works superbly with the HD1.
The big trouble is the earphones, and the naff case that ships with the HD1.

Does anyone have any ideas on a decent earphone for this unit, price of between £20-40 (30-65$) , and anyone have any ideas of a case for it also. Something other than the case that Sony offer.

Your help would be most appreciated,
Many thanks for reading,

Neil

Hi, welcome

The senns MX400/500 are pretty good for the money (under £20).
I also have a pair of mx400 (same as the 500 w/ no cord volume control), and they sound excelent for the money.

Previously I had a pair of Sony ex888, which do sound a bit better than the MX400/500 but they fell apart after one year of use, and cost arround £40. These were the 2nd pair of sony earphones I had that fell apart (the plastic housing crumbled).

Other option will be the Etymotic ER6, that being canal earphones will give you amazing sound insulation and definition, a world apart from normal earphones.
They are more expensive, I bought a pair a while ago they were £130 in the UK, but you can get them for arround £100 these days I think.

Vaja Cases might to be the only manufacturer that makes a case specifically for the HD1. When I owned the 3g/15g iPod I used a black vaja case. I was hoping the HD1 case would be in a dull leather finish like the one I had for the iPod. The leather is glossier, but it exudes quality. IMHO, pricey, but worth it and the wait. The black case arrived within 3-4 weeks.

At the Chicago meet Tuberoller noticed my vaja case for the HD1 immediately because of the logo.

I know this isn't a great shot (taken w/camera phone), but it gives you a basic idea. The case works well enough... kinda tight on the HD3 (claims to be made for the HD1), but it works just fine. I'm sure it will stretch over time. It's available on sonystyle.com.
