Hi ! i am playing with some cheap tube preamps
I am liking what i hear but as i use low Zin power amp the sound is a little lacking in punch in the bass
I understand that this could be the effect of the too high Zout of the preamp, usually around 5kohm
I have a weird idea to use a cheap portable amp usually low in Vgain to buffer the preamp
Like for instance a Topping NX1s or similar
Is this a silly idea ? in this way i will retain the tube sound and be able to drive almost any power amp around
Or as a line stage my old dream is an anode follower with a 12bh7 ... just one tube for both channel
But i would need a kit to start
Any comment/advice would be much welcome and appreciated
Kind regards,
gino
