Deepfunk always encourages people to look for deals and get around buying expensive stuff new. He rightly states that a lot of old stuff sounds really good too.

If you find a new set up that works for your right away and you are content you could be done and save yourself a lot of wallet torturing... Keep in mind this is Head-Fi so the upgraditis/curiosity bug is always present.
 
I prefer the scavenge hunt and doing things my own way. Being on a budget helps too.
 
Also, Uncle Eric was always there to emphasize the rewards of vintage gear, as were others. My wallet suffered non the less...
