I already know what most of you will say "spend more and you'll be better off in the long run". I would totally agree, I myself have a very expensive setup thanks to all the help on the forum. However this isn't for me, its my dad. He has some really cheap eMachine 2.0 speakers that came with his setup back in 2002. He asked me to get him a nice set for around 50 bucks (no more than 60).
~ Must have a way to control both volume on the desk (easy to reach), and bass (preferably on the desktop) but if its on the sub itself that would be ok I suppose..
~ Must be under 60 dollars.
Those are the only two stipulations really. I was looking at these...

but are they honestly even better than some of those 30-40 buckers on Amazon?
So yeah, if anyone can point me in a good direction. I would get some edifiers if they were still around at decent prices but I can't find any that fit the needs.
