Hi guys, first post!

I've got my Chaintech AV-710 hooked up to an all digital surround preamp using the optical out. I'm using Foobar as the player, and I was wondering if I should be using 16-bit or 24-bit(padded to 32) output? I'm using kernel streaming by the way. I can't really detect much of a difference, but I seemed to notice some noise when using 16-bit output once. Any thoughts?

16 bit padded to 32? Which guide was that? I've only seen Radar's guide which recommends using 24 bit padded to 32. I'm a bit confused as to which setting will give me the best result.

both will give you the same results as long as you don't perform any DSP or volume control in which case 24bit is better than 16bit.. 24bit padded to 32bit is THE recommanded setting..
