Im curious if the 1212m will rival the 595s rebook performance?

If the 595 is comparable to my scd-ce775 (which cost more than the 595 did, you may have read about it) then I feel that the 1212m is better. Bass is less bloated, overall maybe a bit smoother and refined.

Bass less bloated = Too thin, depending on your tastes and setup.

What amp and headphones are you going to use?

I think there's something to be said about my other comments plus smoothness and articulation. I think you'll probably want as much articulation as you can get with the 580 and mghead.
