Wow - November, where does the time go.

I am not sure if this is the same for you but when I was younger I always wanted time to move faster and now - not so much.

Okay, where was I...Oh yes. I am not sure if you have done this but going to thrift stores or the Salvation Army is "funner" than most shopping experiences, especially finding that "got to have" item at a great price (best part of the hunt) - "Yeah right" as my friends would say.

They would often remind me of a show on cable about people who can not get rid of anything and are constantly buying things that they "need" to a point where their place is full from floor to ceiling. Scary thought...at least I have a place to walk....Okay, I am joking.

So with a record player, I needed records and thus started my journey to visiting, regularly, the thrift and Salvation Army stores in town. At .25 to .75 cents a record, what a bargain. So what started out as a record collection of less than one hundred grew to several hundred to the point I ran out of room. I know what you are thinking - that show - no not Meeeeee. Now, I promise myself for every record purchased I sell or donate an equal amount. This has worked so far but oh so hard.

The best part is the people I have met on my visits who are equally looking for that prized find. And yes, since I go regularly the staff knows me by name - scary but nice. They will often say "got some 'new' records in the back, want to have a look?" Ugh, there goes my promise......

Headphones are the hardest find so far. I have only found a vintage pair of Jax. They were $4, a little dirty, but once cleaned up they looked great. As far as the sound, well, as you might expect, they sounded like vintage headphones but what do you expect from a $4 purchase???

On a different thought all together. I have been trying different portable amps and tube amps. Buying, trying, and selling....my latest purchase is a Jolida tube amp which is only sold overseas. I already have a Jolida integrated tube amp which I am very happy with so I am hoping the headphone amp is equally pleasing. I am expecting the amp and AKG 701 headphones (package purchase) to arrive soon. I am also thinking of purchasing a Headroom Millett amp at some point. I have read excellent reviews but it is pricey.....

Well that's it for now. Until next time......
