I want to get an adapter from 1/4" TS to RCA female to connect EMU0404USB to my headphone amp via RCA. Should I get Monster for $8.99 or Hosa for $1.99.

Should I care about the gold plating? I know word around here says that Monster is overpriced, and underperforms. Where else should I get these adapters (somehow I prefer adapters over the interconnecter cables because I rather have a dedicated RCA cable so I can use it for other equipment as well)? If Monster is overpriced, what else is worth looking at, at this price range, or same for a lesser price? If worth the investment, I may spend more for future upgrades, etc.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Hosa, but just wondering about "better" options. Or should I pick it up at rat shack? Planning on ordering soon, so I get to use my amp.

RadioShack carries those adapters in both gold plated and nickel plated flavors.  Most (all?) of the retail shops seem to have them stocked.  No shipping charges, no waiting for the mail.

Gold or nickel?  I don't know.  The nickel ones are cheaper.  I have sets in both flavors.  I've got gold ones plugged in right now.  A bunch of nickel ones in a storage container waiting for when they're needed.  Some of mine are RadioShack and some are Hosa.  Just depends on whether I was at RS or Guitar Center when I bought them.  Gold or nickel?  Depends on my mood at the time.

1/4" jacks are finicky enough anyways and the TS cables and adapters need to be pulled out and plugged in again every once and a while to get a good connection again.  I don't know that gold or nickel really makes a difference given the finicky connection they get anyways.  XLR and RCA are a more reliable connection.  Unfortunately both my Mackie and FW410 have 1/4" jacks for all connections.
