is the emu newest card sensibly better then the chaintech av710for listening ( if one also plan to upgrade to a DAC ) or it's better just to stick with a chaintech as transport then move on with a dac ?

are they comparable transport for the signal or the emu is better ?

thanks for answering

Check out this thread for a comparison of the analog outputs of the 0404 and M-Audio Revo (about the same quality as the AV-710). The AV-710 is a decent transport, but from what I've read it seems the EMU cards are much better transports if you don't have a reclocking DAC (like the Benchmark DAC1).

I've heard about people upgrading the DAC on the AV-710. Is that Benchmark DAC1 used on the AV-710 as an upgrade, or is it something totally different/seperate?

The Benchmark DAC1 is a separate component. It's generally hooked up to S/PDIF output on the AV-710. This bypasses the internal DAC on the soundcard. It's a substantial upgrade. The Benchmark runs around $900.00~$1000.00 USD.
