This is exactly the kind of review I like.
Those on the point comparisons with a lot of other well known and good headphones of the same type and price point are what most headphone reviews are lacking.
If I make another review it will be in a similar style.

@gelocks when you had the 1540 do you know if those pads fit on the yamaha?
