Great review and sounds like an interesting DAP - I love my Aune M1P in spite of a few annoying quirks, also sounds incredible and ultra portable.

this screen being this rudimentary is a fail. There are other daps that do simplistic better than this to me...with this, its like for $500, I shouldn't be transported to 2002

If you never heard one.. you should for fun try once an old AK120 1st gen DAP. It has dual Wolfson chips and a custom OS made by Astell & Kern in their early days.

It sound like you described compared to Android OS offerings..
