I will have to see if Violectric is sold in the states. I seem to be hearing about it, and now your review as well. By the way, by “utilistic” I assume you mean “utilitarian?” At least that is what came to mind from your description of the word.
@Frankie D Thanks! The Violectric really surprised me and I will certainly keep a closer eye on the brand. Niimbus as well, as I saw a glimpse of the US5 with 4.4mm balanced, and they have a DAC coming.
I did mean "utilistic", which is why I said it is not actually a word. Picked it up while I was doing my PhD and working with people who liked to appear intellectual.
@Mach3 I have looked at the Phonitor X, which has some really interesting features, but I did not see any pre-gain functions and don't know if it would work with IEMs, which is something I do like. Otherwise definitely a really interesting and very powerful amp.
I see the V590 listed as sold out.
I am a little concerned about the dip switches on the back. I wish they were on the front as a switch. I don’t want to have to access the back to use an IEM. At least I don’t think I will want to do this.
Really nice review!
I own a V226 myself and have to add that your assessment of the amps sonic qualities are spot on,
since I would describe the 226 the same way you desribed the V380, adding that I have owned and own several high end dacs and amps for comparison.
