were you able to measure the actual current draw (and voltage) from your phone with Chronos connected? Using those small usb-c testers you put in series to monitor voltage/current? 200mA current draw is way too high for a single-ended 30mW dongle, iPhone has limitation and shouldn't even work with attached peripheral devices that draw that much current. And something like Lotoo S2 with a balanced 150mW output draws under 90mA of current, or L&P W2 with a balanced 230mW output draws 110mA of current. Thus, I'm curious if 200mA just a max spec or was it actually measured?

@twister6
Never mentioned that I measured it.
It is a maximum value as stated in brochure they sent me.
Operating Power: Smartphone/Tablet/Computer via USB, max. 200 mA
It is also written in the review.
Maximum value.

Where to find this measuring dongles you mention?

@Ichos on amazon or ebay, type "type c usb power tester", many different types. These things cost around $15 and they are the best tool to measure voltage and current of the devices connected to your smartphone or DAP.

No MQA!? Really, in 2021/22!

No MQA just real and not fake high resolution.

Hey, do you improvise!?
MQA is an audio codec using lossy compression - it's a bit different when unfolding is done vs upscaling. It captures every element of the original, and the recording’s resolution and timing. MQA codec uses a unique ‘origami’ folding technique, so the information is packaged efficiently to retain all the detail from the studio recording and when you receive it you unpack it, you do not upscale it by creating artificial bits of info. So, if you say that MQA unveils all flaws of the original recoding you would be right but you are wrong in what you think you know.

It is a long debate and I am not in the mood.
I guess that you are already educated.

You may disagree, as other people do and this is OK.
Even if it is real, too much hash and a lot of money paid for nearly nothing.
Get a Qobuz account and you are done.
Free high resolution without the companies paying for royalties.

Anyway and we shall end it here.
The Chronos is not supporting MQA.
At this flagship level there are other options like THX Onyx or EarMen Sparrow.
For cheap you could try the iBasso DC05.
Everybody is happy!

Thank you for reading.

The Sparrow from the balanced output is the most powerful, followed by Onyx and then DC05.

why anyone needs MQA, just use Qobuz for the real deal....

Qobuz! This is CD quality, isn't it!?

No it is raw high resolution up to 192/24 without any kinds of compression, watermarks or other manipulation.
It is the only really high resolution streaming service, no strings attached.
Of course not all catalogue is available in high resolution but most of it is 96/24.

And that is £13/month

The same with Amazon Music HD. I have subscription to all streaming services, but use Amazon HD more often because of its content that suits me and 192kHz HD files. Qobuz is great but it's missing (for me) a lot of current top100/pop/EDM releases. Always great to have a choice!

Qobuz might be expensive but it is really high resolution with the biggest classical music catalogue in the planet.
It is certainly lacking in contemporary music.
Family plans are less expensive and are easy to find one with a little search...

@Sharppain

Tidal hifi plus is €13.99 in Greece so not much of a difference and I don't need an MQA DAC.
