Hey John, thanks for the review, it was a blast to read! As you know I am a "simple is better" kind of earphone designer, and I'm glad that my methods worked out for your tastes. Be well!
you got me at "Those who are a bit sensitive to high frequency’s and like their treble with plenty of detail and extension yet stay smooth enough without sounding warm will like the Mayas treble for sure."
Considering these more and more. I only read good things. Only area of concern is the high sensitivity with 12Ohm and 114dB SPL. They might catch hiss on my i5.
@ BartSimpson... They got me there also. Must admit i didn't hear hiss with my sources but would not like to say not having a Cayin i5 myself so could not comment on that unfortunately.
Looking at your wrap sheet though with plenty of ATH's on there I think you would be just fine with the Maya's highs.
I think it is worth getting the ifi IE Match anyway as they are always handy for any other iem's in the future at least it solves the issue, as long as you don't mind having the extra bit in the cable path carrying it around when on the move but obviously not a problem if listening to them whilst say at home static. I might get one myself anyway. Will be worth it for you to hear the Mayas sing as it is musical happiness personified!
You jammy ****! Good on you Bart, bet your doing the Bartman right now!. When I heard them they are a good clear improvement on the originals as I have the JH16pros but feel the Mayas are giving really good level of sound for the money but when you win a pair costing nothing then good on ya. Enjoy your JH13V2's ; )
