Nice Review. Seems we have similar eclectic musical tastes and I completely agree with your assessment of the 3DT. They are fun, engaging detailed and completely no fatiguing. I can stick them in (with the right tips) and just enjoy them for hours on end. Quick edit for you "The MEST 3DT retails at USD $399 at the time of writing."

and airy signature will probably want to look elsewhere - I disagree, I found them plenty airy as it is

@Ace Bee hi and thanks too! Well, I said those looking for "a consistently holographic and airy signature"; I found it airy sometimes, but not always (song style/mastering dependent), and similarly the soundstage could sound more open and expansive on some songs, but rarely huge nor holographic.

My point was more that if a person was really particular about demanding a consistently huge and holographic signature (e.g. as found with the original MEST, EE Odin etc) then this might not be the IEM they're looking for (perhaps something comparatively more neutrally-tuned and technically focused).

NB: I know those IEMs I've mentioned are TOTL; I don't know enough about the circa $400 price bracket options to suggest something appropriate at this price, so I was just using them by way of illustration :)

At the end of the day, it's simply one person's hearing and preferences (in this can mine lol); it's totally normal for different Head-Fi members to hear IEMs differently, and we can agree that we might hear differently and maintain respect and good relations with each other, which I certainly hope to do with you :)

And I'm glad you liked the "sheer musical engagement" part! I did indeed have a stupid grin on my face at various points in my listening sessions, and my jaw dropped when listening to 'Love Dies' by Club 8 (available on Bandcamp.com) :D

Well, I compared it with other iems in this price category, and honestly, the only iem which had better air was the Audiosense T800. Rest all had inferior or similar air. In its price category it indeed has a sufficiently airy presentation.

You can find my review below, 2nd one after yours.

It's all subjective isn't it. Many iems that I've found to be "holographic" reviewers have found intimate. No big deal really. You have made me very tempted 🤔🤔🤔 @Layman1

@Ace Bee I love musical iems with good imaging. I was also thinking about the Yume! I think paying a bit more for the Unique will be worth it 😉
