Thanks @josesol07! Just my desktop computer as well as both variations of the Apple dongle. I'm sure they sound even better properly amped but I sold my DAP a few months ago due to digital downsizing.
Thank you for the fine read. I have had it impulsively for the very same reasons (and for the early discount from Music Teck USA) and found 3DT perfect for my acoustic music, fitting every DAP I use and very good while commuting.
@Ace Bee Thanks, I enjoyed yours too! The cable in one of the photos was a XinHS but it wouldn’t seat flush on the right side so I put a KBEar Rhyme (supposedly UPOCC) on it and it’s very nice ergonomically and aesthetically IMO.
Spot on review! The 3DT is incredibly organic and natural-sounding IEMs. The bass slams and rumbles. It's not on the level of IER-Z1R, but easily holds its own against all other dynamic drivers that I've heard. I also agree that with a little more air and detail in the highs it would be an even better set.
Sealing the deal
Getting a good seal can be a bit tricky with this set. For me, silicone tips have sometimes created negative pressure that deadens the drivers and requires readjustment. However, after switching to foam tips, this has all but disappeared and has improved the isolation. I think that UM has a good set here and I would like to see more development in the multi-DD space.
Now that everything is dialed in and I've got them working just right, they are a lot of fun to listen to and can be worn comfortably for hours.
I ordered a 3DT set last night, partly on the basis of this review, which is remarkably like my description of the Radius DDM on this site more than a decade ago. I'll post my thoughts!
@KutuzovGambit Does the driver flex is bad though? I wouldnt like it if it as bad as CA Atlas. And, male vocals, dynamics and treble resolution, the 3DT is still ahead of the NFs?
