Notes on Saturday June 11, 2011
woke up early and had to catch up on all the news and trades of the last week on the computer. So, at 7am or so, fired up the macbook pro and listened to the ED10 some more.
After some vocals, itunes landed on the seminal work by Arne Domnérus, Jazz at the Pawnshop. The 1984 Proprius Edition. (I Also have the recent anniversary and SACD editions, I still think the 1984 was the best.)
The track "I'm Confessin'" has extended solos where the bar and its patrons can be heard. My EXCEL work stopped when some beer glass was clearly articulated by the ED10 as it was placed on some table. I've never heard this before, not even on my Genelecs or HD800. Quickly, I went to the Sennheiser and yes, it was there too, but the sound was overwhelmed by the vibraphone. For the first time, the isolation strengths of the ED10 made the 'stuff' in that bar, some 30 years ago, jumped out.
more to come....
