Great review, thanks. I own both Mojo and Opus and I think your words are exactly my impressions. One thing, You're saying screen is really good, but my unit has really poor vertical angles prformance. Do You still have it and be able to check this?

Thank you mate. Well, I just check it. There is no problem with straight angle, but horizontally, it is not that good. Overall the screen is nice I think. It is not a smartphone after all mate. :)

Nice review. Unfortunately we have a company here that nobody has heard of charging mid-tier prices for a dap that has zero market presence and has a PLASTIC body!!! Are they kidding?? $650.00 for a dap with a plastic body. These guys must be taking the piss.
Seems to be becoming a regular practise now, charge what you can get away with. This may well be a good dap, but come on, $650.00.
Pass.

Well, using plastic may be about costs and offering a good sound for a good price. The used plastic on Opus is not a low quality material. Cutting material and machining style is nice. I don't think it is a huge handicap for Opus; even some old flagships were made by plastic in the past, such as my long-term favorite 901. Primarily, Opus needs a better firmware.

Excellent review, very clear to follow. Looks like a promising player in a crowded market. I can see how they would cut costs on the housing to be able to deliver a better value in sound and the touchscreen for instance.

"Sub-bass of Opus is faster, while Mojo has slightly more prominent low-end."

A 35hz note is a 35Hz note. Any decay acceleration is due to the transducer not the DAC

Mojo has more dynamic sub-bass presentation, but Opus has more controlled and better-textured punches.

I'm a basshead and this makes no sense. I own the Mojo and it makes no sense? A better textured punch??

A plastic body an ips 400x800 screen and for $650...I would just rolled my eyes at that but your bass comparisons without mentioning what tracks and what part of those tracks were used to deduce bass texture....bass texture?  So the texture of the  dap is better but the dynamics of the Mojo are better?

Thank you for your comment.

Well, I think that dynamism and prominency is not exactly related to having better texture or detail. Sometimes, a source may have more dynamic and more prominent low frequency presentation, but it may also sound with messy notes/less control at the same time. That reduces the texture and detail level. Texture and detail is about resolution; dynamism is about power.

As for speed, there may be a decay/attack difference between two daps. It is about the whole system.

I made A/B test with many different tracks including metal, jazz, electronic etc..

Good work again my friend, finally had a chance to sit down and read it. You have a nice and detailed way of explaning things, I like your approach when it comes to sound differences.

@Vartan thank you for additional info. Very helpful.
@AmberOzL thanks buddy.

@all999 Yes it works like this. But I think effective viewing angles are not bad. :)
