I enjoy mine.... at the moment I'm bolstering a tablets output using the TEAC as a pre. The build and versatility (it will run Harvey's or high impedance) make it a keeper!

Nice review. I've had many DACs, and the Teac UE501 stayed w/ me the longest. You should try it w/ some DSD sources if you haven't done so yet, it's in another level when compared w/ normal 16/44.1 or even 24/96 music files.

One of my favorite dealers and a great friend to the Head-Fi community sells these also. Todd at TTVJ (Todd the Vinyl Junkie).

I got mine from Mike of American Audophile in Lynbrook, long island, he turned me onto it prior to the Fall meet in N.Y. He was nice to loan me that along with an AK100 to have at the show. That initial exposure was enough to convince me of it's numerous inherent qualities and had me decdide then and there that I would have to add one to my collection. I highly recommend Miike as a great guy to deal with, he has been at thus same location for many years brring one of the first high value High End stores in the New York metropolitan area. His number is 516-87-7530, check him out.

Already one of my. "ear buddies" is contemplating taking the plunge also, I know he will not be disappointed. I wished he lived closer, a few listens would be all intakes. So far mine has mated well with every one of my phones that I have thrown at it.

How much power does it have out of the Balanced Outs? 1.4W pc is well I just wonder, AUdio GDs got their Percision 1 for around $700 or so, pumping out... well a crap ton of power

Still I wonder how it compares to Schiit and Audio GD amps in the same price range?

It seems kinda silly to compare to the Asgard amps when this one costs 3x as much, am I missing something here?

The reviewer owned both Asgards.... hence the comparison.

Ehh... I dunno if many people who've listened to both are gonna agree that the Teac "puts the Woo to shame"... A WA3 running, say, Telefunken E88CCs may even be slightly more detailed than the Teac, actually. A WA3 running the Telefunkens and a WE 421A power is going to be more detailed and have a larger soundstage as well. Of course, that's almost $700 in just the tubes alone, but it's worth noting. I've listened to the Teac and it's a terrific sounding amp and a great value... But no, it's not on the same level as a WA3 running the right tubes.

Since I have both I am tempted to do a bit of tube rolling with the WA3 one day.  It has a special symmetry with my AKG K340 hybrids, really quite magical.  It also does well with my 600 ohm DT880.  The Teac has just about all my dynamic phones sounding better than they have previously.  The air, control, bass detail, refined sound and three dimensional presentation makes it one of the best headphone related investments I have made.  Very highly recommended.
