It’s really hard to understand that even though there is the 7Khz to 9Khz, there is also a bass boost. People tend to generalize IEMs due to what they have heard, here this IEM has no sound twin in reproduction as far as tuning. That uniqueness is partially the special thing this review talks about.

Thank you. You say that I might think that there is not enough bass, are you describing it without bass boost swich on?

Not at all. There is plenty of bass. I don’t use the dip switches. Because you never heard the signature your thinking bright. And it is on the side of bright, but there is prominent bass too. Not heavy foggy bass, but perfect controlled pace creating bass.

How you describing its bass reminds me my other IEM which I sold and miss, looking at the graph you wouldn't say that it has enough juice but it had and bass was there when it was caled upon which was satisfying and surprising, such a nice contrast, it was fast ant tight. When an IEM has to much bass and all over the place, then it is sort of predictable and not that surprising.

It is like having different rooms in your house. Meaning you walk into the living room and it may be dark, you walk into the kitchen and you can see everything and it is bright. You enjoy both rooms for their mood, nether is right or wrong.

I don’t use EQ, I get sound design through tips, cables and DAPs. The Sands response is perfect for me with the right cable and DAP. I don’t want anything else, that’s why 5 stars.

I just went and listened to Flowjob “Fall From Space” and it was absolutely incredible. More imaging even. So there is your full EDM! Great bass!

Great read friend! I am savoring the excitement around this set. TSMR deserves this recognition.

Stellar and even dramatic set once you find a right cable and right tips, once that is done impossible might happen!

Hi, hope you are well :) I will ask the same, as in the previous review:
I have the Qudelix 5K, the FiiO BTR7 and the Mojo 2. Would the Sands pair well with any of my devices?
How do they compare to the RAPTGO HOOK-X?

The Sands enjoys darker and thicker/warmer responses from players. So, I haven’t heard those players. But I have heard the people talk of the Mojo 2 as warm, so it would probably be perfect. You really need the PAC480 cable though added.

As far as comparison to the HOOK-X, they are totally, totally different, probably to the point of complementary. Where the Sands is very much pin-point treble detail, the HOOK-X doesn’t go any way near that level of detail or resolution.

The bass on the Sands is tight and sculpted, where the HOOK-X is nice but more of a blob, not as defined. In many ways the HOOK-X is more well rounded, and more mainstream with it’s stance and acceptability, accessibility. Where the Sands with the PAC480 and Mojo 2 would be more of a thrill in that it is still brighter and faster, offering new levels of fun through the perception of detail and clarity!

Thank you for your reply! :) I have placed the order a few minutes ago but I have not found the PAC480 cable on Linsoul. They will match well with my FiiO UTWS5, though, as the reviewer below said, so I will have some patience to burn them in, for like 100 hours. I will then try the stock cable with all my devices, and after that I will try to get the PAC480, if still required. I will also try all the switches before buying a new cable.

Some people in the IMR thread mentioned the Sands and brought me here. I should not make these purchases, as I should be seriously saving for something like ZMF Caldera, but I am bored of waiting for my IMR Na-Le, so I thought to try the Sands. I think I will not regret it.

Penon makes the PAC480 and best to get it from them. Really the Sands is probably the highest resolution per dollar spent of any IEM I’ve owned or tried. Also the bass on the Sands isn’t at the detail of the up-line LAND IEM, but somehow it is maybe a hair more present than the LAND? Definitely take both at a minimum 60 hours for both the HOOK-X and the Sands to burn-in. The bass in the HOOK-X came alive at the 60 hour mark. But eventual 7 days of burn in is good for both. If you read my review I found the treble shelf of the Sands to be fully rewarding and do guitars masterfully, combined with the bounce in the bass and it is not stop fun! The crazy part is you really need the PAC480 or some pure Copper cable to dial them in, otherwise too bright and not enough lower midrange to work. Best get the PAC480.

Also the Sands is smaller and lighter than the HOOK-X making it 100% more comfortable!

All right, I've ordered the 4.4mm PAC480, as well :) It cost me around 40 pounds. The Mojo 2 offers comprehensive equalization adjustment so I should try that with the stock cable first, but I thought I could try the Penon cable on my HOOK-X, as well, to see the difference. For me, the most important thing, by far, will be the synergy with my UTWS5 because I am always on the move, always wearing them. Currently with my HOOK-X, which I find very comfortable. After the burn-in, I might return here to post my impressions, if you don't mind :)
