Great take on the Altone there. How do you feel Altone sounds out of FiiO X1, does it add that required warmth you need to tone them down a fraction? I understand completely what you're saying about the long term fatuige, it's also very tempting to turn them up due to the rewarding clarity.
@H20Fidelity : If you noticed in my last picture with X1, when paused you see || in a circle and I arranged Altones so it looks like a smiley face That's exactly how I felt when these were paired up together. The warmer/thicker sound of X1 compensates tip rolling (I used custom shaped RE400 tips and also RE400 stick-on filter) to fine tune it to an exact sound signature I wanted which also allows me to turn up the volume. You mentioned in one of your previous posts that you have different DAPs paired up with specific headphones. For now, X1 and Altone 200 are the best "buds"
Thanks. Sounds like X1 might work well with H-300 too, which imo are a fraction brighter than Altone. Between my Altone and H-300 the Altone are slightly warmer smoother in the mid-range, (just fractionally) so you could imagine H-300 from a bright source, X1 I will try for sure. If the Altone ever do get too bright, using a rockbox clip then adding -1 or -2 treble from sound settings will take that edge off for you.
