The disappointment => delight transformation is somewhat similar to my first experience with these. Upon the first listening, I wanted to pack them up and put them on used market immediately. Only when I get the right seal and get my brain burned in, the unique signature of these IEMs begin to resonate with me. I think our impressions about this set are quite similar.

Yeah these take some time to settle in. I always go by the philosophy of the first 15 seconds of listening to an IEM will be burned into your brain, so typically when that first 15-30 seconds isn’t positive, they’re dead in the water. I always felt that I was just off that day in the hearing department. Thankfully, Symphonium are such a trusting group of guys to let me have a 2nd go.

My preferences are to blame I think. I thought they were too laid back the first time, where as now, I found the dipped upper mids to be really nice, especially with the boosted treble.

@Rolu Absolutely. Anytime anyone gets a set for free or is provided some incentive for a review, there's always bias, subconscious or not. However, keep in mind that I didn't get to keep this set, it has to go back to Symphonium. I sometimes find that actually spending your real money on an IEM, especially one that's $600, could cause some bias in the way where you want to confirm your decision was the right decision for not only other people, but for you self. It took me months to finally admit the Monarch MK2 wasn't a perfect IEM. Me spending that $1000 on them really made me feel like I had to juice them up as much as possible.
