Just ordered a pair cause ive really been wanting a fun IEM and this review sold me i only own the Andromeda 2020 which are more technical so im excited to see what a "fun" IEM is like.

@DuPree These crush the Andros. I think their technical chops is equal if not better. I haven't heard Andros since 2021, so memory is not great, but these really just are on a different level imo.

Great and engaging review. I think you just helped to push me over the edge and order these.

Meteors arrived today on my birthday (nice present for myself) and I am very impressed with them out of the box. Burning them in a bit and will have a short review eventually.

Does anyone have a take between the meteor and the oracle MK2?
Think both are pretty similar, although would like to know each is technically better.

@enz0pt I have found that most Thieaudio products sounds pretty mid. They focus very hard for the graph to look good, but that's it. The Monarch MKii had very crunchy treble and pretty hollow bass. I think Thieaudio uses mostly the same drivers for all of their iems but implements them slightly differently. If I had to guess, Oracle Mkii would be more or less than same. Limp bass and unnatural mids with a graph that looks dead perfect.

The Meteors are great. I have them and i highly praise them among my IEMs collection. I don't understand why there is just one review (very good one) in this page. If you are in UK i highly recommend Elise Audio. Ahmed is a gentleman and replied to all my queries and doubts incredibly fast. Please do not hesitate.

"This is an easy 5/5" is somehow almost an understatement. I got these today and have been listening out of my Cayin RU6 while I wait for my Lotoo Paw S2 to show up later this week. This is my first higher-end IEM (my Sony 1000XM3's don't really count IMO: they're catered for a very specific usecase) after downsizing my way out of the over-ear game, and wow. This U-shape tuning somehow is one of the most fun I've heard: I tend to dislike trebley headphones, but wanted something that could pull treble detail in a tasteful way (and then I have a couple other IEMs on the way for some other signatures). Based on this review, I sprung for them. Sure enough, these pull all that high end detail while not sizzling my eardrums (because the bass balances well).

Well done, Symphonium. These are incredible to listen to, and that's coming from a former over-ear die-hard.

Ordered one Monday. Arriving today. Very excited. I also like the Internal technology single bore design etc. Presents music differently.

My daily has been OG Monarch. Can't wait for this new experience paired with DX240 + AMP8 MKII Special Edition.

Mine came in and I have to say the refinement is stunning. you have excellent detail retrieval yet the sound is one you can listen to for hours upon hours. The sound stage is Massive with much better height vs my Monarch (Headphones like in expansion). Best BA bass I've ever heard (sounds like a fast dynamic driver). Even beats my Anole VX, now sold (from memory).

Sounds that pan from right to left are so vivid, it's amazing imaging. More than satisfied. Money well spent. This could be the end game for many. Does all genres very well from Jazz to EDM, bass guitars, etc sound dope.

This is the real baby U12T but also very dynamic. Would be nice to compare it to the new 64Audio U4s which costs $500 more.

@DJ Core i got to demo the u4s and I would say the bass hits smoother and the treble is more refined but probably isn’t worth double the price. Meteor is still my best hifi value and it isn’t close.

I had problems with mine unfortunately. I was told that my ifi zen dac v2 and ifi go blu would not push them hard enough. I like to listen to my IEMs at high volume but just the ones that presents a smooth treble which was the case here. The Meteors were distorting at the volume I would like to hear them so I gave them up.

@ATunner70 I've found that Meteor is very easy to drive and the specs show that (unlike Helios). They don't need that much power to shine. It all comes down to the dB level the track was recorded at. for DSD I can crank it up to mid-gain just to give it a boost as DSDs are -6db . Otherwise, I use Low gain on DX240+AMP8MKII.

More power will easily distort, congest, or even kill the Meteor. Very sensitive drivers/speakers can be easily destroyed with too much power. I know this first hand being a DJ since 2004.

@freeryder05 Good to hear about U4s. Graphs actually almost look the same for both. Stock red tips give that ultimate treble on meteor but require a smooth DAP in order not to get sibilant. AMP8MKIIS (Special Edition) for DX240 pairs perfectly with Meteor being neutral and warm with a tube-like musical presentation. I could listen for days.

@DJ Core I was told they were harder to drive then my Mest MKII. I only listen music through Qobuz so yes it makes sense of what you just said.

@DJ Core i use a warmer dap, hiby rs6, to and it helps a ton. @ATunner70 please be careful about your listening levels

@freeryder05 Always look at the specs: they tell you how much power you need to listen at a safe volume in dB.

Meteor is very sensitive and will give you 111dB with only 1mw. I think 115dB and above starts to damage your hearing starting with the high-frequency pickup region.

Specifications

Frequency Response - 12Hz - 21kHz, ± 3 dB
Sensitivity - 111dB/Vrms @ 1 kHz
Impedance - 9.7 Ohms @ 1 kHz

punch in the specs here https://www.headphonesty.com/headphone-power-calculator/ and you'll know how much power an IEM or headphone needs.

The human ear can detect the smallest soundwaves. It can even detect soundwaves that only move it half the width of an Atom. So be careful when it comes to power and listening levels. You don't need too much.

@DJ Core Thanks for the link. I think calling any IEM hard to drive is a misnomer, and this is the case here. However if you are into sources, it’s a good iem because the FR remains mostly stable no matter the output power of the amp. I run my Meteors out of a tube amp with almost -20db preamp. Helps add a fun analog flavor.

Meteor does get to volume pretty easily though

@freeryder05 Thanks for the review, I like your style and reckon your taste's very similar to my own.

I absolutely love the 64 Audio Trio but won't be spending $2.3k on a pair of IEMs any time soon.... So have you heard the Trio and could compare to the Meteor, ideally even A-to-B? They are a bit more V (ow W) shaped and fun/musical/exciting than the U12t (and any other 64a offering IMHO). I even like them better than the Annihilator 2023 which despite all that warmth and bass on paper lacks slam and PRaT. Another contender could be from the Fatfreq line-up, or even Dunu Falcon Ultra (on paper), if you've heard any of these.

@NiToNi U12t I find to be the least musical, but the most detailed. I enjoy it for what it is, but it has a lot of holes that I find are plugged better by other IEMS. Tia trio isn't one of them unfortunately

I currently own Anni 2021 (which I just sold) and bought Anni 2023 (which I reviewed recently). I think Anni 2023 is the best IEM I have ever heard, but it does lack a bit of low end slam. It's an ok sacrifice because I really like the boosted lower mids to thicken up the note weight.
