Thank you for sharing your impressions! I agree with your thoughts. Also the pairing with the TA-ZH1ES is Magical, specially when using Sony's Hi-Res Audio Player. Pairing with the Mojo 2 or ADI-2/4 Pro SE is easy to EQ for a little less bass if needed.
I mostly use them for enjoyment, when I want to feel the music, and when tracking on Logic Pro. I am a professional musician and I have never had issues picking up on details when monitoring. Compression, sibilant issues, location of instruments and low end check are easy to identify. This is a great headphone for practicing piano and sound design with synthesizers because of the low end and isolation. After all this years, it is still a well all rounded headphone.
I feel you, i have had similar experience with chi-fi headphones...overly bright and can't listen for long. When i listened to Aryas i felt like im missing something here after raving reviews, the sound was such a disappoinment. But those made me realize that i Lean to warm and musical hp, so i have no regret buying those.
