I've just taken delivery of the SH-9, well 4 days ago & very pleased with it I am too. It's so good to have a headphone amp with a proper remote volume control without breaking the bank. I bought it from Shenzen but through Amazon UK. It cost a little more than buying direct but I would probably have got hit with import duty anyway. The other good thing was delivery was expected to be between the 6th & 20th January 21. It actually arrived on 31st Dec which was a nice late Christmas present. I'm currently using it with the Topping E30 DAC but will probably buy the SU-9 soon. The only thing I don't like so far is the fact that the screen is so bright, even at its lowest setting its bright. I wish it had an option for it to time out, maybe that could be added with a future firmware update. The only cans I've used with it so far are the Quad ERA-1's & it drives them just great.

The old SH-8 had the option to have the screen turn off after a few seconds. I don't know why the feature is missing on the SH-9. I personally don't mind the light and prefer it for my desk setup.

Hi. I am looking to buy the hedd headphones later on in the year would the smsl sh-9 paired with smsl su-8 be powerful enough to run them? They have a 42 ohm impedance and 87db/1mw sensitivity.

They will run just fine. I needed 71-74 volume on high gain to feed the HEDDphones.

That's exactly the combo I'm planning to setup. An SH-9 paired with a SU-8 DAC and Focal Elex headphones
