I love the looks. Especially the dragon pair on the site. But you're not overly impressed with the sound?

Right now my closed backs consist of the Focal Radiance and the CFA Cascades.
I don't use closed backs nearly enough, but these are so cool looking.

For planar's, I Love my HE6se V2's and I have a set of Bee's from Nectar Sound. I like the idea of a closed back planar, but not if it just sounds OK.

I am not impressed by the sound compard to TOTL planars. I should have worded it like that and will edit it in.
For the price it's 100% solid!
I have no open or closed back Hifiman here in this price range, so comparing it 1:1 is not possible, but for example, the Denon AH-D9200 was more impressive from a technical perspective (although no planar).

I have never heard, nor will I ever buy (short of a lotto win) TOTL headphones, so it might be impressive for me.

I will watch from a distance.

Ahahahaha, i can 100% understand that, but if you have the chance to listen to an HE1000v2 or a Susvara or an Abyss 1266 in a peaceful environment, with your own music, then you just melt down and realize what this hobby has to offer, it's an experience.
I bumped up the rating by 0.5, yeah, you're right, i should not expect insane technicalities from a headphone for that price.

I have thought about the HE1000V2, but it is still too expensive for me up here in Canada. And the cost of the Susvara up here is mind-numbing.

So far, on the headphone side, I have kept the prices under $1K in US funds. The Radiance were the highest at $990.00.

The Starry Nights are within budget, but I have to read at least a couple of glowing reviews to get me moving.

Also: i am a hater of hype reviews that do not mention anything negative. I would most likely never call a headphone "perfect". For me a 3/5 is above average.

Well, given your review these seem like a damn good pair of cans especially at the current Black Friday price

I updated my thoughts after having this thing for almost a year!

From my perspective this is a phenomenal review... Aside from that my opinions differ a little I really think they are the best pair of headphones I have in my collection the only pair I've heard that I prefer which I don't own yet are the meze emperyean 2 which I had a chance to demo but those are also 3000$ sooo
