@shureThing - The gold Alien is a revised version of the first black Alien with improved circuit board and a better sound. Unfortunately didn't tried the previous model, but the Gold Alien is a player with beautiful neutral sound. The manufacturer recommends at least 200 hours burn in time , for the best sound.
@smial1966- is not sonically equal to the Tera Player, nor as fast at reading the card( music)  but at this price point is a bargain. Highly recommended .

The lack of a ui for navigating through the music is a total deal breaker, regardless of cost or sq.

Agreed with senorx. No GUI is complete fail and masochists need only apply in getting this DAP.
