Thanks for this extensive review, its very helpful. How would you rate the IE900 for classical, orchestral? Would the treble be still of an issue, as I note you have spotted issues with vocals mostly, and they seem to fare better with instrumental music.

I’m not a big classical music fan so I don’t think I will be of much help. I can try and listen to some with what I have on hand and let you know. With the stock tuning I would assume flutes and violins to be a bit aggressive, but I would have to listen to be sure.

Thanks - would be grateful if you did have a listen and report back, that would be very useful.

I have done A/Bing and this is my personal opinion. I wouldn't take any of this as gospel. For orchestral and symphonic classical the best option out of what I own was the Symphonium Helios. THe IE900 has the most tactile bass so things like drums, upright bass and cello sounded fantastic and then it sort of all went wrong. The violins and flutes were very sharp and big trumpet blasts sounded odd to me. It wasn't a super pleasant listening experience.

Helios has a pretty modest pinna gain and a very linear treble response. This lets it toe the lines of sibilance without ever really going there. Because classical music encompasses the whole spectrum, I would recommend the Helios to anyone at this price range looking for an IEM. I feel like it offers the best experience as a whole package.

Thanks, it certainly seems to be a valid suggestion, unfortunately it seems like a large and unwieldy IEM from a fit point of you. As suggested by yourself, the IE900 fit is quite something…I wonder whether the IE900 with EQ approaches the Helios for classical?
