Ouch. :frowning2: And $300 is a tough selling price in general.

This vs Final A4000 for half the price? Any comparisons?

@DJ Core I was very dissatisfied with A4000(build and sound), and would be even if it were only $50.

I think it’s fair to say that the IE 300 is for people that like a fun headphone rather than a reference headphone. Sennheiser would like people to know what to expect, so they can order based on their taste.

Thanks for the review! I'm surprised you found the cable "thin" feeling—I feel like if I had to make an emergency, middle-of-the-ocean repair to a torn sail that I could use that cable haha (half-kidding...let's just hope I don't get lost at sea). We appreciate you spending some time getting to know the IE 300. Cheers!

This is still a fun IEM to listen to. Which is why I recommended it. Being pampered by nice Chi-Fi cables has upper my expectations for this price range. This tuning will cater to a lot of normal consumers and specific audiophiles. I had people who aren't into audio pick the IE 300 over the EST 112 for looks and the sound signature that the IE 300 produced. This will definitely be a good selling unit for Senn if they can get it into big retail stores.

Congrats on getting a front page feature, by the way!

No comparison to 80s then. That one was never worth its asking price. I got it new for 180 and still was let down by build quality with cable breaking in a pocket every 3 months.. And cheap plastic shell does not scream 300 bucks. And now you get mmcx too which is another meh.
Sound wise it was fairly laid back tuning and quite a decent soundstage. But subbass presence was nonexistent compared to midbass and i personally just dont understand why would i was a tuning with missing frequencies.
Wonder if all this is the case with ie300?

Picked up my old IE80 a few days ago which I had coupled with a Chinese aptx Bluetooth adapter and I must admit they are a great listen. Amazingly lightweight, and while you forget you have them on, the sound is huge with pretty good resolution. So I don't really agree with the dismissive comments about the IE80. And mind you, I do own the IE 400 pros as well.
