Hi Alex, it is a great little amp you will not be disappointed!
adydula
Have had it here in house for awhile and its a superlative little tube hybrid...wonderful pairing with my 420 ohm ADX 5000's and a new NOS dac....Just simply amazes me all the time even compared with $3000 + amps....

Ichos
Which s the new DAC?

This must be good!
I reviewed the Toucan and I liked it a lot and my main DAC is the Lab12 dac1 reference.

One of our head-fi acquaintances told me that the EH 6CG7 was his all time favorite tube in the Vali 2 +. I was skeptical.
But after trying a dozen tubes I broke down and got a EH 6CG7 and just popped it in and
its absolutely amazing with the amp.
The best here to date.
I cant see how it really can get any better....superb tube for a decent price.
Run dont walk and get one!!

Can confirm I had a Matsushita 6CG7 that worked on Vali 2+, though I didn't use it long enough to comment on long term effects.
At the time I thought Telefunken Black Diamond E88CC sounded better. But I haven't try EH 6CG7 yet.
I've since sold the amp.

The EH 6CG7 is compatible with the Vali 2+ and with very good sound.
You can see one pictured in a photograph in my review above.

Sorry to side track a bit, I previously owned Vali 2+ but didn't find it "tube enough" sounding and end up selling it.
@Ichos I see a local sale for Lyr 3 and was wondering if that would sound "more tube".
Would you have any experience in terms of Vali 2+ vs Lyr 3. Lyr 3 default uses 6SN7 tube I think (I know Vali 2+ can also use those too with adapters).

I have reviewed the Lyr 3 a long time ago and I remember being one of my favorite amps ever.
Now, it is not very "tubey" in the sense of adding tones of harmonic distortion or excessive lushness not as "tubey" as an OTL where the output tubes also shape the sound.
But you get all the tube goodness without side effects, it is full, holographic, lush enough, liquid and organic in a greater sense than the Vali.
It is also better on the solid state side with greater dynamics and control.
Lastly it offers more tube rolling fun and sound shaping because of more diversity on the available tubes.
The Vali can run the same tubes but on the Lyr they are run in their full potential thanks for the better power supply.
So they affect the sound signature more than the Vali.

@Ichos Awesome, that's very good to hear! Yeah I do read it's more detailed than most solid state and more holographic and organic than most tube amp. Kind of like best of both worlds but obviously can't compete to OTL due to it being hybrid (in terms of "tube sound").
On top of it I do read people say the bigger 6SN7 tubes do sound "bigger" than the smaller 6922/E88CC tubes lol.
But that's very good to hear, I will try to contact the seller and see how it goes from there, thanks again for your great reviews and feedback!!!

My pleasure to help when I can. Let us know the outcome and some sonic feedback.
I mostly remember the 6CG7 being the most coherent in overall tonality , more natural timbre and 3d layering.
Also a touch more smooth at the treble but without sounding rolled off.
I hope that I have helped.
