It's a very valuable write-up for me. I like your review style straight to the point with good useful comparisons. It covered a few of the amps and headphones which I I'm familiar or interested with.

More out of curiosity: Does anyone know how the Asgard does as an all-in-one with something like True Multibit Dac vs a magni/modi stack (modi multibit)?

Re: @Darkestred ... Re: comparing Asgard XX and Bifrost YY with a mini-stack (Modi-MB and Magni 3, 3+, Heresy). I like the larger sized components for my listening nook. I moved my MODI-MULTIBIT + EITR (as an upgrade to my Modi's USB connection [necessary? Meh...]) to my office. I also prefer Asgard's larger volume knob over the teeny tiny Magni potentiometer. My Magni 3 remains plugged into my Bifrost, as I sometimes prefer it to Asgard (dunno why... there's SOME kind of difference in sound quality).

@Darkestred The Bifrost is "true multibit". Were you thinking of another, particular DAC?

@Currawong he is referring to the internal DAC, that's what Schiit calls it if you look at their website, "True Multibit card"

@Currawong - genck is correct. I am wondering how the Asgard with the add-on True Multibit Dac would sound vs Magni/Modi stack that has the modi multibit option.

As usual, I'm late to the game. I just ordered one with the True Multibit. Frankly I've been kind of "limping" along with a AudioQuest DragonFly Red on my second at home workstation.

My first home workstation sports old, but bold PS Audio GCHA amp. and the Musical Fidelity M1 DAC. Heck, I've just rediscovered that system as I've been primarily working of the other rig.

I hope the new Schiit Asgard brings me the same joy that this old rig does. Lesson learned, always have more than one headphone amp/DAC and multiple headphones :beerchug:

I guess the Mulitbit card is going to take a couple of weeks. I’ll hang in there. I’ve just about read every review I could find!

Re: Bifrost multibit versus Asgard 3 with a multibit DAC module. I'm pleased I kept chugging along with a separate Bifrost DAC... that fed several other stand-alone amplifiers. I'm a fan of having a bunch of brushed aluminum and painted-metal chasises stacked in my listening nook.

I wish I could afford the Bitfrost DAC per many people's recommendations. I suppose if I did indeed removed the TrueMultibit option and go for the Bitfrost I could consider the savings off the TrueMuiltibit a form of discount on the Bitfrost  But I'm afraid the wife wouldn't. "Really Dear, it is simple economics!"....no sale I'm sure

Hello Mr. Currawong,

thank you very much for the very informative rewview of the Asgard 3 (and the youtube takes on it as well). I just ordered the Asgard 3 without any extras for my home office desk. As I am not entirely sure what DAC i am willing to pay for I plan on using my Hidizs S9 connected with via 3.5mm to RCA adpater in the meantime. Will this work as a temporary solution?

Best regards
