there is such a thing as love and hate in the iems world. no no, not blon bl 03. one of the places where this concept is used is monitor iems. While monitor iems are very boring for some, they are real iems for others. Without going into this discussion, I must say I find them boring. I'm reviewing a monitor-enabled model today, the flo lily. You can now order the iems for 28 euros, it used to cost 48 euros.
who is flo?;
i was wondering if it has a connection with audiosense, a brand flo, there are 3 different iems models on the market and they launched a new model with 6 balanced drivers in the last week. Thank you for applying more than 50% discount on this product. I have no affiliation with the company other than the discounted lily model, it will be an honest review.
box contents;
since the name of the model is lily, a lily-colored cardboard box was used. I like the details, it is a neat box and the earphones are protected with thick foam inside. There isn't much, or even nothing, as an accessory. although I used to be an accessory freak, I've been in favor of simplicity for a while, the simpler the better. The following comes out of the box;
- cable
- earphones
- 3 pairs of silicone tips
- User guide
By the way, the cable comes attached to the iems, I wish other companies would do this as well.
iems and cable quality;
made of resin, the iems comes in blue color, there are no other color options. material quality is fine, they even look more expensive than they are. they use qd c as cable connection, i prefer mmcx or 0.78 mm. easy to take off and put on. the earphones are neither small nor large, they are average in size. As for the cable, I found it mediocre. they're both fast-paced and I personally don't like their shape.
sound quality;
The sound changes so much depending on the source used that although it has a more fun character when using it with low-power sources, the iems turns into a monitor character when switching to a strong source. hard to last. Since the target of the headset is the monitor character, I will write my audio experiences according to lily, which I listen to from a strong source. actually some of the criticisms i used for lily also apply to general monitor headphones. I don't like to listen to electronic music even with only $400 iems with balanced drivers. so wherever I see a balanced driver headphone, I know they won't produce bass sounds like a dynamic driver. overall it plays what the recording is lily, i recommend good recordings.
bass;
it would be a mistake to expect energetic and punchy bass from a balanced driver iems, and lily is a headphone with a single balanced driver. Probably the least bass iems I've ever heard. The first time you put it in your ear, you immediately realize that you are not listening to the sound of a dynamic driver because there is a slight lack of sharpness. There is also a slight metallic tone at low frequencies. I recommend a foam tip.
medium frequencies;
Lily shines here, she's a vocal beast. Likewise, instruments at mid frequencies are ahead. Instruments and vocals sound holographic because of the 3D soundstage. lily, who also shows us the monitor feature here, moves away from naturalness and turns to the critical side of the business. The note weights of the middle frequencies are quite thick, and they are not tiring at all as the trebles are not sharp.
high frequencies;
The highs don't bite your ears, as they should. If we look at the price band, I can say that they are even above the average, the trebles are thick. They make it feel like 3d. The distinctions are also very good.
sound stage;
it's like 3d, it really is. although the vocals pulled to the front feel like they are narrowing the soundstage, you hear the stage is very wide due to the instruments coming from behind the vocals. There is a very wide scene in front of us vertically and it is quite realistic. Sometimes I feel like I'm listening through the speaker, not the iems.
comfort;
i have yet to come across any model with balanced drivers that I do not feel pressure in my ear, including lily. Other than that it's pretty comfortable. fit and size is just right. sound comfort is also very good, one of the points you should pay attention to is that the upper ends of the vocals can shine slightly when listening at very high volume.
last word;
lily is crazy value at 28€ for the right person.
i recommend it if you want to do critical listening and listen to various sound characters in one earphone. Especially if you have more than one headphone amp, you can hear many sound characters with a single headphone. It would not be the right advice for people who are inexperienced in iems because it is difficult to find the value of lily without various equipment at hand. I went a bit in the direction of criticism because they are only at the beginning of the road for the market and they need criticism.
