Makes me wanna try them, to pair with the Vmoda boompro for gaming

I'd have no problem using these for gaming, but everything I've read says the SHP9500 is better for gaming than the SHP9600 because of their "legendary status" in the gaming world. I've not heard the SHP9500 so I cannot verify. Just thought I'd throw that out there to aid in your search.

I just A-B’d these with the 9500. I’m returning the 9600. The 95s soundstage feels far more open, and they take EQ really well so you can fix some of the thinness they suffer from. The 96s, while more balanced out of the box, just like the review above states feels not as open as an open back could be. The soundstage is definitely more in-your-head. The SRH1540 feels more open than the 9600. If you didn’t have the 9500 to compare to, and you wanted something with good bass response as-is, then the 9600 is the way to go. Otherwise I think the 9500 offers a superior experience. More airy, more delicate. Ymmv.
