I had the Serial for a couple of weeks but did not keep it because IMO the Ikko OH10 did indeed best the Serial in bass and sub-bass quantity while being mostly equal in the bass quality and texture. The OH10 has a true sub-bass thump that the Serial couldn't quite match -- close, but not quite.
And to me the Serial was a bit tame in the upper treble, missing that extra bit of treble shimmer that again the OH10 has just a bit more of.
I will admit the Serial had a bit more mid-area clarity and forwardness the OH10 misses a bit. The OH10 is closer to V shape sound.
It was a hard decision which to keep because they were very close, and I had become used to and liked the heaviness of the OH10 copper-lined metal housing.
