Thank you for your review. Did Onkyo ever release firmware that restored USB out in order to use with an external DAC/amp?

@jwbrent Unfortunately I do not have a USB out device to test it. I understand that the March 2018 firmware update has made some improvements so it may have been restored http://www.intl.onkyo.com/support/firmware/dp-s1.html

Yes, at least on its Pioneer sibling the current fw re-enabled USB out

@jwbrent I can confirm that this does in fact work flawlessly. I've used it with my iDSD Nano Black.
