Hey bro -great review.  Given the response by some users I would've thought that it was really something out of this world.  I'm in the market for some new IEMs at this point and need something that'll play well with most genres....feel like giving the Noble 4U's a shot.

Great review. It is such a pleasure to read a review of an expensive iem that is honest and not just gushing with fanboy praise because it comes from a renown company. I am interested in this iem and will definitely listen to it before purchase. I also find the look very underwhelming given the price. I know the sound is the main point but I want a premium product to look like a premium product. I know some may think this shallow but it is just as easy to design and manufacture a good looking product as it is an ugly or uninspiring one. Cheers.

"Some reviewers here feel that the reader should read the personal background of the company and another (usually longer) one of the reviewer himself."

I can appreciate if you don't want to write about the company - personally that interests me if I'm a potential buyer - but that's just me, and others probably don't find it as interesting.  But not including a bit of info / bio about your own bias or personal tastes means that the review is essentially difficult for me to relate your experience to mine.  If you have bass head tendencies, or aren't (or are) treble intolerant, then it has an effect on how I will relate the review to my own tastes.  As it is - I'm now shooting in the dark.

And as a former acoustic guitar player, I'll have to disagree with your comment on tonal accuracy - in particular with guitar and violin.  Personally I thought that was one area it excelled in. I guess we all hear very differently - and that is where the "about me" section can be very important. Something to think about anyway.

Otherwise - enjoyed the layout, and although I disagreed with some of the content, loved the fact that you went into such detail with source pairings. Really good work :)

@Swannie I figured that most people looking at the Savant would consider the design quite important, I don't think it's shallow at all - that was the whole selling point of the Noble products, I believe.

@Brooko Hm... just looked at your review, and saw you weren't exactly happy with the piano and cello on certain tracks - it could be our opinions aren't as far from each other than it looks. As a current (12 years) classical piano player, it's possible that I know piano better than guitar and violin.

When I said "personal background" I was referring to age, physical background, "audiophile beginnings" etc., not music tastes. I believe that is important, although I personally usually say throughout the review what I do and don't listen to (in most reviews it's obvious that I don't spend too much time with vocals and pop music). Besides for that though, I try to listen to pretty much everything - both in and out of the review. Most of the "backgrounds" go way beyond music tastes, they're more like life tastes - I haven't seen reviewers in any other field put such an emphasis on this so prominently.

The Savant was clearly more tuned to your tastes than mine - I don't think it's any wonder that it's easier for you to swallow off the bass texture and violin/piano 'issues', since it does excel with vocals at the end of the day. I just think that at this price, there's no excuse for it not to be an all-rounder, it's a hard point to argue against.

One thing I forgot - I'm going to include "testing tracks" in a few minutes; that should fulfill the purpose of the "reviewer tastes" category you mentioned earlier. Sound good?

I gave you a thumb because you said the word free.
It makes zero difference but it is what it is and some folks think semantics have no place in the review. No financial incentive is not how some might view a free set of what is a several hundred dollar item. The bias, imagined or real is for the reader to determine not the writer to declare IMO.

I truly disliked this set (fit and bass and price) but am glad you have no qualms about saying a 4 letter word

I will point anyone who asks me about IEM in this realm to check your reviews or PM you.

@thatonenoob Noble actually just told me that they think the Noble 4 would be better suited to my tastes - you seem to have guessed pretty spot on there.

@Hawaiibadboy Just did that to make room; since we spoke via PM I thought it was kinda extra. My bad!

I get it. I will delete the one I made asking
