Ah man, in this days and ages with spending of 3K and higher for no touch screen .... will be super duper tough. Nice review

@Whitigir Indeed, when I noticed there is no touch screen, I was completely lost... I mean, if P6 has a touch screen it would be very competitive in the market. If it has touch screen + Android, it would be a no-brainer, a must-buy for me. But at this moment, P6 is only for people who only want the "best sound" at this price range, it is for those old school heavy enthusiasts IMO.

I don't care for lack of touch screen, or am the fre visually impaired and buttons work best for me. But only 12.000 songs really? I all my cards have more than 12000 tracks

@gerelmx1986 I believe it is not a big issue. The latest firmware was requested by a user who has more than 10,000 songs in his collection, then L&P did this immediate update. So if you're interested in P6 you can contact L&P to further extend the capacity.

What is the reason R2R DAPs always seem to have this kind of minimized interface? To safe costs because of the expensive chips?

It isn’t about just non touch screen. Usually Non Touchscreen and classic devices has “Navigation buttons”. This player buttons look to have just touch screen function for navigation , but without touch screen

...like the R2R2000. But why?

@Hanesu I don't want to find an excuse for L&P or Hifiman, but I think R2R boards are on the larger side. Adding other components may ultimately make the device too big. Cost is definitely one of the most important things, too. Interestingly enough, the designer/owner of L&P told me the only reason he didn't add more features to P6 is because of the cost. I think for R2R+FPGA board itself won't cost too much, but adding other parts to this model while still maintaining a similar level of size, weight, heat, and battery life may cost a lot more in R&D.

Great review; thank you. I agree completely about the sound - I'm loving it even more than the LP6Ti - and mostly about the non-touchscreen controls. Although, as I get more used to them, they're becoming a lot less annoying than they were at first. My main problem with the P6 is that it doesn't seem to recognise any SD cards I've tried with it. Do you have any recommendation for type of card (I know the size limit, and haven't tried anything above 256GB) or formatting to get the P6 to 'see' it? Also, where do you find the firmware update? I couldn't see anything for P6 on L&P's site.

@colourgravity If you purchased from Musicteck, you can contact Andrew, he has the newest firmware. If you didn't purchase from them, you can pm me your email, and I will send you a copy.

@colourgravity I've tried Sandisk SDHC 32GB and SDXC 128GB both work. Samsungs doesn't seem to work.

@colourgravity OK, I figured, for any SD card above 32GB, you need to format that card to FAT32 before using it. The 128gb sandisk I have previously formatted it so I can use it , but I didn't format my Samsung.
