Nice, Patswalker. I've been sitting on the fence (I have communicated with John a few times already) about the next pair of headphones. I do know they will be an open-back design and comfortable. Your tuning sounds excellent to me but I might be looking at the bio-cellulose version hopefully with the clean extended bass you talk about, excellent mids, and possibly a oh so slightly tamer treble? Thanks for the view into excellent audio...
Cheers
Have you opened them up to see how the inside of the cup/driver is treated? Headphone cups/headband and drivers all seem to be available on Ali-X for very affordable prices….
That said these seem to stack well against much more expensive cans, so paying a premium for someone to build and tune them is not a crazy concept.
so curious- what ear pads come with these? how much are the extra ear pads - I know ZMF charges a few extra bucks like $50-90 per set- something like that and my VC is too heavy
how can you compare the sound to the say ZMF VC or similar- I find I love the wood and style but weight is too much - are these heavy. I also had the Audeze LCD2 and XC and those were neck breaking for me- so weight is big issue. I don't like to use eq but I used it with Audeze because they sound weird- do these sound weird in mids like Audeze? I listen to Jazz and Rock and some EDM - but female fvocals really tell you a lot about a headphone -
how versatile are these XTC?
its hard to believe these reviews and how many reviews I read so far about these XTC. I'm trying to get rid of my ZMF VC because they are too warm and mush and no matter the amp I cant get detail out of em. seems like everyone likes these XTC- so I am skeptical. I read about these and how no one seems to complain. Can I ask you what headphones do you have now that you can say you compared them to and which before that
