Great review but the battery life is slightly over 8 hours for me.

Maybe the difference in used gain explains the 2 hours gap in battery life?

question... did you use alternative cable (Oyaide, Fiio, etc...) on your Philips X1 or did you use the standard cable that come with the unit?

Yes - I very quickly replaced the X1 cable with a Fisual S-Flex cable that has a very low measured resistance. Nice cans, the X1, but not quite as revealing as the W4R IEMs.
