Owning one of these myself, I completely agree with the detailed description of the Supermini's sound. Despite the warm tone, instrument separation is really something and earphones like the RE-262 don't sound congested in the least. Balanced mode is miles ahead of single-ended and I would get this player for that feature alone. Great review.

Thanks! I wish I could have tested the balanced mode further, but since I don't have balanced headphones I'm afraid I had to skip that for the most part. I did see though that the RE-X00 had much better separation balanced than most of my headphones single-ended, but wasn't sure if that was the headphone or the balanced port doing the trick. Thanks!

That's true, the included earphones do have really good separation regardless but the 262 was incredibly smooth and distinct when driven balanced vs single-ended. Then again, it was designed for it so it's hard to say whether other earphones will gain as much of a benefit haha.
