Hey there. So I went for the same setup as you did and found this while googling. Like you I got a hip dac and the cans, and I initially wasn't disappointed. Read up on what firmware the hip dac offered and lots of people went for the gto filter, so as did I.
Anyway, wasn't until recently I got around to playing with it all. And **** I'm disappointed.
I have to power match and crank the knob all the way to the right to get near some immersing level of volume. And God forbid I use xbass which supposedly feeds a well balanced bass boost without overpowering or distorting. Well lemme paint you a picture, if I were to enable power match plus xbass it's like I stabbed my woofer with a kitchen knife and let it play.
