Great write-up. I wonder what other positive traits may have been gleaned by listening to them paired with a decently powerful, balanced Class A discrete amp - as many Arya owners have done?
Thank you.
With the Flux FCN-10 it sounded more effortless, bigger, expanded, dynamic.
Yes it is easy to drive and excellent from decent portable sources but it really scales with the big boys.
Thank you for the beautiful text and your impressions. Since I also own the same range of headphones as in your report I can agree with you almost everywhere.....almost the Clear MG ....
I don't think I'll become a friend of this rifle. In my opinion very dark, very narrow space...harmless.
switching from Arya Stealth to Clear MG, there is no harmony for me. ....but yes, it is always a subjective experience
Thank you very much. Well, I like them both although that they are quite different.
Clear Mg is more dynamic and visceral but the vast soundstage with the laser sharp imaging and positioning of the Arya is something remarkable.
I have sometimes driven my Arya SEs with an Emotiva BASX A-100 (Class A/B, discrete) fed via the preamp of my Gustard H20 (Class A, discrete), and it becomes a different beast altogether when fed with the A-100's ~12 watts @ 32 ohms impedance. Seemingly limitless bass depth and super dynamics along with outstanding controlled output of the drivers. It is a real eye (ear) opening listening experience that totally destroys the "all amps sound the same" and "enough power is enough" short-sighted arguments of the purely objectivist camps. Those planar drivers of the Arya really come alive when given substantially more power than what's suggested on paper.
I have owned or reviewed numerous speaker or headphone amps and no sir, they don't sound the same, every amp from THX to class A has its own sound characteristics.
And I am not talking about tubes.
Thank youu @Ichos. K9 Pro probably sound similar to M17, which I already have?
Flux, getting it would be difficult during present situations. So will check Vali 2.
Yes the K9 PRO is similar to M17 but it has better driving force.
There are also more to check as an example Burson sounds warmish, Violectric stuff also, Lyr 3 is a great amp etc.
iFi also but the Arya is always going to be the Arya, it is not a warm headphone nor forgiving not the most full bodied.
