Thanks for the review. There is a comparison that I am even more curious about. I think the AP80 Pro-X should be compared to the HiBy R3 Pro Saber (ES9218P). According to many, it is the best player that can be bought for $ 200.
Excellent detailed review. So you saying this player can be used also as a "transport" sending a clean Hi-Res signal to an external DAC, bypassing its own DAC/AMP circuits? I've read it has a SPDIF function through USB so I guess what you mention in your review is this function, right?
This DAP can work in USB DAC mode as well as it discovers other DAC's connected over USB. In this case it sends digital data to an external dac and acts as a transport. Moreover, as far as I remember, it can even receive data over bluetooth and send it to external DAC or to analog output as well. Not 100% sure about first option, though.
Hello,
Thanks for the great report.
Can the Pro X be connected to the smartphone and tablet via cable on Android/Apple?
Somewhere on YouTube I saw a video that said it doesn't work.
What about the Aeon R/T headphones, do they perform well or are they too weak?
It's a bit of a pity that it's still not possible to connect to streaming providers, but I've read that the new Hiby R3 can do that.
Pro x can be connected to any smartphone as USB DAC. Moreover, in this case you can use streaming apps on a smartphone, pass mqa and other audio to Pro X as USB DAC and you'd end up with great audio quality
Hello,
My Ap 80 pro X arrived today.
And the problem with the Ipad seems to still be there.
It shows me that too much power is being used.
Really annoying, I haven't tried it on Samsung devices yet.
Bluetooth works with the iPad, but only outputs SBC.
I guess that's all it does.
I can't do anything with the Hiby Music app.
I can't connect or connect to the streaming provider either.
Sound-wise, it works well with the Aeon R/T.
The slightly annoying highs from the Nu prime Hi mDac are definitely gone.
Edit:
Tried to get the Ap80 Pro-X to work with Apple devices.
The disappointment is that it doesn't work, only Bluetooth and that's it.
The support said I should take a Usb adapter because of the power thing, which I did and brought no improvements. The player interrupts the playback all the time, flashes like a fir tree, crashes, starts up again.
For 170$ I didn't expect that.I have to say that the Hiby R3 probably does a better job.I'm really disappointed.
Play through folder means that if you set continuous playback when this function is on - it would play all songs on the card one by one or shuffle no matter which folder songs are located at. And yes, you can browse by folders as well
