Finally get to know FD1 output power..... and as expected it's underwhelming since Hiby themselves don't even put a number for its output power on its own website.

Thank you, good informative write up. Afer some years using Hiby DAPs I am intrigued by the 32ohms sibgle DD matching with such tiny components.
AND I should have said being a very happy owner of an Hidizs AP80Pro CU which with a Hiby R3Pro is my favorite commuting/sports audio player

Nice review! Do you know if the R2 can be used as a USB DAC on an iOS device?

I'm considering this because of mqa and Bluetooth support.

Is it possible to somehow connect the R2 to fiio k5 Pro and still using the mqa 4x unfold?

JelStly - should be possible as with many other DAPs and APPLE devices.

megapowa - not really sure, never tried this combination before. I would try soon when my FiiO UTWS3 would arrive

I'm not a audiophile by any measure but I'm satisfied with this little gadget despite a few important issues that mainly relate with the poor WiFi range. With my Poco f2 pro phone I can basically go anywhere around the house without any signal drops but with the R2 that's not the case at all. I have to stick around the living room where my router is installed. Once you get a signal drop I have to move closer to the living room and despite the WiFi indicator then showing it's getting the signal, Tidal doesn't work and I get a few error messages. If I reboot the device everything goes back to normal. Don't know if this is a firmware issue but it definitely needs some ironing out. Nonetheless it's a cool gadget with great potential.

I'm very pleased with the sound quality of this little device - crisp and tight in bass, full midrange with plenty of detail and I especially appreciated the well extended treble, lively enough but pretty smooth and pairs well with the crunchy treble emphasis of Phillips Fidelio X2hr. MSEB is excellent iEQ for taming The Philips' sibilance, adding warmth etc. R2 drives the X2HR with plenty of weight and presence in the bass.
