Well... This has really discouraged me buying anything focal :/ Oh well I guess the search continues. I really do hope focal would at least give you a discount on the repairs.

They surprisingly also stated it could not be repaired, so I am essentially with zero support from the company. I have received a ton of feedback from ppl here and in that other forum (which I am unsure if I can mention the name of openly) I also posted about this, and so far it is all ppl who are baffled and many that have similar stories or know of ppl with similar problems. It therefore doesn't seem like my headphones in some way being an unlucky pair, and also sounds like there is little to no interest in taking care of existing customers.

The US rep reached out to me in the other forum where they are very active, but he sadly cannot do anything as that is not where I live. I understand he cannot, and he has since forwarded my case to what he said would be 'the right person' as he expressed the same surprise at the reply that I described in the post. I have not heard anything back for more than a week now, so not holding my breath on this one sadly.

Final update: No more updates from the US rep either who thought he could get the matter in front of the right person. No replies received either from him the last couple of kindly phrased pings, so I am giving up on this matter now. The fact that a number of others have reported similar issues with other headphones from them in response to my reviews here and in one other forum, but none have received help, implies that we are back to the original statement:

Focal Elegia cannot be recommended for studio use or any other situation daily use situation. That would include for the purpose of portable use, as that is likely even more of taking the headphones on and off. I would be extremely cautious buying any other Focal headphones, unless they have a metal structure inside the headband instead of the plastic frame that the Elegia have.
