Which ATH-IM model is that? I was thinking of doing the X1/E11k stack with the ATH-IM02.

@TRapz : This one is IM03 with Lunashops silver-plated OFC replacement cable.  It should pair up nicely with IM02 and will "warm it up"   I had IM02 before IM03, and found it to be a bit too bright/analytical for my taste.  Warm/thicker sig of X1 can balance it out nicely, and E11k will add missing details.

do you think this is a worthy upgrade from my clip+?

@Momo-chan : I don't have clip+ anymore so can't compare.  Better ask about it in X1 thread.  For sure a stock clip+ is no match, but people swear on rockboxed version as godsend lol!!!  In my personal opinion, fw optimization can only go so far until hitting hw limitation.  X1 has a lot more going for it than just default sound quality.  You can switch to LO and use external amp.  It has a bigger display and scrolling wheel control.  It has a nice metallic build and easy to access buttons.  It will have a ton of accessories, a docking amp in a future, and so on.  You gotta factor in all that stuff when you compare.  By memory, clip+ sounded to me like a nice mp3 player, while X1 has a sound of entry level DAP

I wish it was a little smaller and had a clip.  With those modifications it'd become an ideal gym player.

sounds off topic but it took 50% on your fiio x1 to power the havi b3 pro 1? dam its so power hungry. thats said i'm using at 50% off my ipod touch =P nice review well written and i thoroughly enjoyed reading it

One things I dont like about Fiio Products is that their Headphone jacks are not very sturdy. My E17 Lasted just over 1 year before the headphone jack started acting up. Its common in products priced this low, but still sad to lose such a nice litle gear.

Can Cowons be compared to X1??
