I enjoyed reading your review. Some thoughts though: ESS DACs, I'd argue, are not the "king of detail". It's easy to mistake distortion in the upper-mid-range and treble as being more detail. I recommend getting hold of a truly high-quality piece of music and listening with a truely highly-detailed system (not a DAP) and when you can make out things such as how notes bounce off the walls of the venue, or, at another level altogether, how the sound of one instruments bounces off another, then you'll understand what "detail" really is.

Thanks for your review @rev92! Very well written and detailed. I was on the fence between the M11 Plus ESS and iBasso DX240 but based on your review, I'm leaning more towards to the M11 Plus ESS since that's more readily available in Canada.

I had both the LTD and ESS versions to evaluate as the order window overlapped. I kept the ESS only because it was cheaper. They both sounded identical to me. This was with SE846, KSE1200's, and Fiio FH-9's. I only do IEM's. With the KSE's, I had both machines feed a switch box into the energizer. If there is a difference, it's splitting frog hairs.

Cool - thanks for commenting. I pulled the trigger on the ESS since I got an additional discount and it was more readily available than any other DAP in Canada. I'm loving it.

Here in HKG, the AKM chip LTD version is US $140 cheaper, about to pull the trigger today and grateful for some views.

Does the tidal app play bit perfect through the Android OS without any resampling by Android?
