There is the same synergy with Audio Technica ATH M40X. I love this device, so I bought an additional one for backup.

That's a great review! Thank you. I am using an old smartphone that doesn't have apt-x. Does this still improve sound quality when I connect it to the phone's bluetooth? Most of my music is in flac format.

Yes, it will still improve the sound quality over SBC or AAC, there just will be less details due to higher compression.
