Wow - how loud were you listening???  Their isolation isn't great - but I've had no issues with anyone around me hearing them 'ambiently'.  You and I must have very different volume thresholds !

BTW - curious how long you spend with each unit you review?  I always try to mention the time in mine.  I'm constantly amazed at how many reviews you get through in such a short amount of time.  I'm trying to give each unit at least a couple of weeks so I can dial in properly to what I'm hearing. Makes it really hard when you have requests stacked up - but I've made too many mistakes in the past with not giving units enough time, and then changing my mind after the review had been posted (ie once I've had more listening time).  Anyway - just curious as to how someone else approaches it.  I guess you were like me and managed to spend a bit more 'free time' over Xmas break?

Great pictures once again - really appreciate the effort you put into the reviews :)

@Brooko : believe me, it was not loud.  Funny, that's what my wife told me "turn them down, too loud and distracting" lol!!!  She said she was able to distinguish a song I was playing.  So, I did a reverse test, made her wear it, knowing her loudness threshold is a lot lower.  And lo and behold - I was able to hear it loud and clear from outside as well.  Puzzles me quite a bit, but I left it with a conclusion of "semi-open" performance which could explain such an amazing soundstage :)  The same when music is idle on pause.  I can hear loud and clear everything around me.  Tried different tips, obviously, getting a good seal for sure.  But it is what it is....

Regarding testing.  I got a bunch of review samples at once a few weeks ago.  Usually, I take pictures right away so I can process, format, upload it later, and each pair goes for a 50-60hr burn in (yeah, I know, we agree to disagree on that ).  I don't accept brain burn in, stick to free air burn in only.  Do spot checking a few times a day during burn in to see if sound sig changes, etc.  Then, spend a few days listening, and dedicate a whole evening to a closer analysis while taking notes.  When I have only one review sample, I can spend a longer time listening.  When I get a lot at once, try to do it in parallel.  I can publish them every other day, but doesn't mean I review one from scratch at that interval   Plus, I feel I'm more focused in my review/analysis when I limit myself in time.  I guess just a personal preference.  And on top of that I also write dozens of reviews for xda-dev and androidforums of smartphone accessories... and produce music occasionally, on top of a full time job and two pre-teens at home - I'm NUTS!!!

Thanks.  I just got home and got my daughter to check.  She said she could hear them when she was beside me, but past 3 or 4 feet with normal background noise, not really noticeable.  I wouldn't be able to tell myself anyway - age is a terrible thing :)

Re ambient - could be the seal (I'm using Comply) as whilst I definitely get ambient noise from louder environments, they aren't open like full sized headphones.  DT880s were semi open, and they convey a lot more ambient than the Titan. And with music playing, most of the time I'm having no issues.  I'm aware of things around me - but it doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the Titans.

Thanks for the info regarding testing.  Sheds some insight.  I find I can't do the reviews in parallel - I can't dial in enough to focus on a particular sound signature.  I usually have to spend at least a week exclusively with the earphone - then only start comparisons when I'm pretty sure I've got the signature right in my mind - by then most of my rough notes have been written.  Usually takes about 6-7 hours to actually write each review (not counting the previous week's testing, note taking etc).  Photography usually on top of that as well.  I know what you mean about family too.  Full time job, 2 kids - so understand where you're coming from.

Anyway - keep up the good work. I enjoy what you're posting - and comparing our viewpoints.
